5 ply corrugated shipping box: strong, general-purpose packing
A 5 ply carton is double-wall corrugated board: three liners and two fluted layers. The extra layer gives noticeably better stacking strength and puncture resistance than 3 ply, which makes it the most popular all-round choice for shipping, e-commerce dispatch, auto parts and daily-use goods.

How to choose
- Choose 5 ply for e-commerce and courier parcels, electronics accessories, auto parts and moderately heavy goods.
- Choose it when boxes will be stacked in a warehouse or on a pallet.
- Move to 7 ply for very heavy, fragile or long-distance loads.
Packing tips
- Fit the box to the product: roughly 2 to 3 cm of cushioning space on each side is a common starting point for fragile items.
- Add bubble wrap or a fitted insert for breakable items instead of making the box bigger.
- Use the H-taping method (centre seam plus both edges) on top and bottom for heavier boxes.
